Workplace Wellness Consulting - For Small and Mid-Sized Businesses

The average employee has at least 2 risk factors linked to increased health care costs. Decreased productivity and increased absenteeism resulting from those risk factors cost the employer an average of $9,000 per year. In a recent meta-analysis of the literature on costs and savings associated with wellness programs, researchers from Harvard University found that medical costs fall by about $3.27 for every dollar spent on wellness programs and that absenteeism costs fall by about $2.73 for every dollar spent. The Kaiser Family Foundation with the Health Research and Education Trust

Making the commitment to launch (or re-tool) a comprehensive workplace wellness program is easier and more affordable than small and mid-sized businesses realize. Smaller businesses have distinct advantages over large companies starting and operating wellness programs because they have fewer barriers to implementation, change is more evident and the impact of increased productivity can have a greater effect on the bottom line of the business.

Knowing where to put the focus and having strategies in place is essential for success.  I work with businesses to help them:

  • Calculate anticipated financial and productivity gains

  • Create a dynamic wellness culture that fits their company’s unique vision, purpose and path

  • Establish Health Leadership

  • Select wellness offerings and vendors that are affordable, effective and engaging

  • Create employee investment (skin in the game)

  • Identify and utilize reliable, low-cost program assessment tools that won’t burden staff

There’s no question that workplace wellness is worth it. The only question is whether you’re going to do it today or tomorrow. If you keep saying you’re going to do it tomorrow, you’ll never do it. You have to get on it today.
